I agree entirely that there is no simple solution - it is incredibly complex and involves multiple different types of actors all pulling in their own ways. I have no idea how this will play out - I don't think anybody does.

I don't agree with you on the "good-guy/bad-guy". To me, slaughtering 1500 civilians, including children and babies, raping countless young girls, and taking over 200 hostages is a pretty clear "bad guy" message.
