First of all, my apologies for implying that all Palestinians want Jews slaughtered. I do believe most want to wake up to the mundane - sending kids to school, making some money, etc. But you also need to see that there is non-small amount who do want to slaughter every Jew, and in the case of Gaza they are in the position of power and have spent every ounce of foreign aid to reach that goal.
The other thing I agree with you on is that any form of 2 state solution seems intractable at this time and that I have no idea how to pick up that agenda again.
My issue with a lot of the commentary - of which you can see here, is that people forget that any type of 2 state solution - or even a 2 state "begrudging co-existence" requires both actors to make concessions... The vast overwhelming bulk of the commentary only expects Israel to make concessions, but ignores the fact that Palestinians have agency - they voted for Hamas.
The whole war could end immediately if Hamas had accepted the cease fire terms set out by Egypt a few weeks ago...
